Blu-ray 3D Review: Cave of Forgotten Dreams

We're back with a brand new Blu-ray review! Where have we been, you ask? We reviewed Cave of Forgotten Dreams weeks ago and lost ourselves in the endless abyss of memories of prehistoric man reflected through the mirror into our souls that is their paintings. Or we were lazy. Anyway, here's a new review of master documentarian Werner Herzog's first stereoscopic endeavor.

3D Music Video: Dial M for Maybe

We start the week off with a fun video: "Dial M for Maybe", a mashup of Alfred Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder" with the infectious pop song "Call Me Maybe". The clips from the film are from the new Blu-ray 3D release of Hitchcock's only stereoscopic endeavor.

Blu-ray 3D Review: The Avengers 4 disc combo pack

Up for review this week is the super-packed The Avengers Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + Music combo pack.

As we've seen with most of these Blu-ray 3D releases, the 3D disc on this only includes the feature and its multiple audio options (including the English Descriptive Video Service, an audio narration of the action), but not the commentary. The 2D version includes the audio commentary and all the special features. The DVD also includes the audio commentary and one special feature. While our thoughts on the movie were overwhelmingly positive, I am disappointed the commentary wasn't included on the 3D disc, and that the 3D version once again can only be purchased with the combo pack. Oh well. Enjoy the review!

Thor 3D - Blu-ray 3D Review

It's time for the 2nd installment in our new weekly series of Blu-ray 3D reviews. Jill and I discuss Thor, a Marvel Studios film directed by Kenneth Branagh, starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, and Anthony Hopkins.

Avatar 3D Collector's Edition Blu-ray coming Oct. 16

Finally, Avatar will be coming to Blu-ray 3D! Unless you bought one of the Panasonic 3D devices that the bare bones Blu-ray 3D was bundled with for far too long, or dropped $100+ on eBay to pick that up, James Cameron's film that launched a thousand stereoscopic ships has been unavailable in all its 3D glory. No word yet on if this will have all the special features from the 2D Blu-ray or new ones.

It's available for Pre-order on Amazon now. For those of you eager for a sequel, which likely won't be out til 2015, Hustler's adult parody This Ain't Avatar XXX 2: Escape From Pandwhora comes out August 1st.

Blu-Ray 3D Review: IMAX Space Station 3D

*For those of you not familiar with Blu-Ray 3D, this is the new Blu-Ray spec for 3D content that can be watched on 3DTV's, or in 2D on regular Blu-Ray players. Our Blu-Ray 3D reviews will cover the film, the use of 3D, and the quality of the Blu-Ray itself*

IMAX Space Station 3D is a medium-length documentary from 2002, directed by Toni Myers, with narration by Tom Cruise. Having a life-long fascination with space-stuff, I was very excited to watch this in all its glory.
